Actually this whole incoherence of Death Note makes me feel more and more angry（￣～￣;）
Whether the thing about 'girlfriend' is true or not.. the fandom made sure to hide it pretty well.
But than again I quess there is no reason to hide things; the novel is hardly to be called a part of the manga; it's just the author's.. vision (*・_・)ノ⌒*

By the way, trying to bring some light on this subject not even worth mentioning probably (but I'm such busybody) I've found out that Mero's girlfriend is Misa.

I'll probably just leave it at this. Since it's obviously some random from the even more random author *no offense but please stop messing up Mero's life okay?* and since he uses code, we can safely assume when he means girlfriend he means Matt. Don't try to find logic in this statement.
